What is Discussed in the Daily Scrum Meeting

The Daily Scrum is a short meeting, held at the same time and place every day for the developers of the Scrum Team. The reason for having the Daily Scrum meeting is to:

  • Discuss the progress of the team towards the sprint goal. The purpose of the meeting is not to report progress to the Scrum Master or Product Owner, but to ensure the team are focused on the Sprint Goal.
  • Agree on an actionable plan for the next day of work.

In the Daily Scrum meeting, the team discusses their progress toward the sprint goal, reviews the Sprint Backlog to see if changes need to be made, agrees as a team on the plan for the next day of work, and raises impediments and blockers. There might also be questions for the Product Owner or Scrum Master, so these can be raised during the Daily Scrum, and if needed a follow-up discussion can be held after the Daily Scrum has finished.
